# 📢 Update 0.7.0-alpha — Multiplayer Update

## 📋 Overview

Update 0.7.0-alpha introduces the first multiplayer foundation to Orbitale! Host a solar system from your own computer and invite friends to explore together.

This update also adds Discord Rich Presence and a macOS release. Multiplayer is still in early development, and additional improvements and fixes are planned.

## 🌐 Multiplayer

- Host an existing solar system from the pause menu.
- Join a session using the new **Join Multiplayer** button beneath Play on the title screen.
- Share an eight-character code with a friend to connect.
- Sessions support up to **4 players**, including the host.
- Explore and build together in a shared solar system.
- Existing solar systems can continue to be played in single-player.

**🔄 Version Compatibility**
- Guests must be using the same game version as the host to join.
- If the versions do not match, the guest will see a message explaining why they cannot connect.

**⚠️ Early Multiplayer**
- This is the first version of multiplayer and serves as a foundation for future updates.
- Some gameplay systems and interactions may still need improvements or fixes.
- Please report any issues you encounter while playing together!

## 🪐 Multiplayer Exploration & Progression

- Explore the solar system with friends, including Earth, the Moon, and Mars.
- Players can travel between celestial bodies and explore different planets.
- Multiplayer uses the hosted solar system’s existing Survival or Creative mode.
- The host’s computer manages the shared session.

**🤝 Shared Solar System Progression**
- Rocket ship level is shared by all players in a solar system.
- Spacesuit level is shared by all players in a solar system.
- Skill tree unlocks are shared by all players in a solar system.
- World discovery progress is shared by all players in a solar system.

## 🎮 Menu Changes

- Added **Join Multiplayer** beneath Play on the title screen.
- Added an option to start hosting from the pause menu while playing an existing solar system.

## 💬 Discord Rich Presence

- Orbitale can now appear as your Discord activity while you play.
- Your activity can show your current location, game mode, calendar information, and elapsed playtime.
- Multiplayer activity can display the number of players in the session.
- Discord integration can be disabled in the game settings.
- Discord does not need to be running to play Orbitale.

## 🍎 macOS Release

- Orbitale is now available for **macOS** alongside Windows!
